Fort William Walking

A week based in Fort William is the perfect centre for all grades of walking. From the high mountain tops to gentle strolls along the white sands of the west coast, we have the walks for you. From Fort William you can explore remote glens, magnificent mountains, lochs and beaches.

Grade : Strenuous

Fort William is surrounded by the best walking country in Britain. The weeks are tailored to the groups abilities and quite a variation in standard is possible. The choice of mountain walks is huge but we aim to visit the high tops of Lochaber, including Ben Nevis, Aonach Mor, the Mamores and the rocky splendour of GlenCoe. Some of the less well known areas can also be visited such as Moidart, Ardgour and Glenfinnan.

There is a good system of mountain paths and tracks although they can be rough and rocky underfoot. The length of the days will vary depending on the objective, but generally we would walk for about 8 hours with at least 3000 feet of ascent.

FORT WILLIAM STRENUOUS: £455.00

Skye Munros

Grade : Strenuous + some scrambling

They're unique! That's the only way to describe the mountains of Skye. The Cuillin are the most stunning mountain scenery in Britain. Challenging mountains with airy crests surrounded by precipices. There are a few walking routes to the tops, and climbing these mountains is very different from most of the mainland Munros. Most of the Cuillin peaks require some scrambling to reach their summits and one, the Inaccessible Pinnacle, requires rock climbing. In many places on the ridge the exposure and narrowness of the routes are such that a slip might have serious results.

These weeks are strenuous, rough and rocky underfoot. Sure-footedness and a good head for heights are essential, and some previous scrambling would be useful. Some use of ropes will be necessary to traverse these routes and some instruction in the correct use of ropes in the scrambling situation will be covered during the week

Accommodation : The week will be based in comfortable Bed and Breakfast accommodation in the islands capital, Portree. Centrally located the B & B’s are within easy walking distance of all the local Pubs and Restaurants. Portree also has a good camp-site and bunk house accommodation for those wanting to choose the 'Walking only' option.

Due to the nature of the terrain the ratio of Clients to Guide will be kept low. Maximum four to one.

Torridon Mountains

Grade: Strenuous

The major peaks in Glen Torridon all have similar characteristics, rough approaches, steep ascents, narrow ridges and superb situations. Beinn Alligin, the Jewel of Torridon, Liathach, the Grey One, and Beinn Eighe are the best known mountains in the area and we would hope to climb these amongst others.

Accommodation for the week is based in the picturesque highland village of Sheildaig, in comfortable Bed & Breakfast accommodation. The Torridon Youth Hostel is also an option here for those wishing to join the group on a Walking Only basis The week is graded as strenuous and some previous walking experience of mountain terrain would be useful. The week will involve steep ascents and descents, some airy ridge walking and a little easy scrambling.

Kintail Munros

Grade : Strenuous

This mountain walking week is based in Dornie on the shores of Loch Duich and is within easy reach of the Kintail Munros. The mountains are generally grassy and have a good system of stalkers paths for access. During the week we would hope to do such routes as the Five Sisters of Kintail, the South Cluanie Ridge and the Saddle with the Forcan Ridge. These superb mountains are but a few of those available to us in this area.

Accommodation is in local Bed & Breakfasts in the village of Dornie. Situated at the junction of Loch Duich and Loch Long the village offers comfortable accommodation with a good variety of places to eat in the evening. The Kintail Youth Hostel is not far away and could be used as a base for the Walking Only option.
